Live reviews are a good way to carve out time away from service to make sure you’re set for the Core Exam.

Last updated 3/18/20

UPDATE (6/8/20): The 2020 ABR Core Exams have been postponed to 2021 due to concerns related to the COVID-19 pandemic. Original board review dates may have been rescheduled. Read more here.

The great live review courses give resident physicians the opportunity for (1) protected study time and stress relief away from service and home, (2) questions answered directly from live instructors, and (3) invaluable professional friendships with new resident physicians from across the country.

The ABR Core Exam in Chicago and Tucson has been postponed due to COVID-19 as of 3/18/20. The ABR has not provided an exact date, except to say that the makeup exam will be after September 1.

Notably, there is already an option for taking the Core Exam administered November 5–6, 2020, which is available to all residents eligible for the Core Exam. This administration and other dates are posted at the ABR site here.

Be sure you account for this delayed time frame when planning out your study calendar, including the review courses you’re planning to attend. Avoid study fatigue by taking the extra time to relax before resuming study in full. And stay calm — this isn’t the first time the Core Exam was administered in the fall. Back in 2013, all residents took the Core Exam in October.
