“Rest and self-care are so important. When you take time to replenish your spirit, it allows you to serve others from the overflow. You cannot serve from an empty vessel.”

— Eleanor Brownn

Medical practice is taking its toll on my life. I’m not alone. On your next shift at the hospital anywhere in the world, you’re more than likely to be working with a colleague who’s overworked, emotionally exhausted, depressed. More than half of us have admitted to being burned out. We’re running on empty most of the time. Meanwhile, the accelerating pace of medical research is driving a wedge between how we practice medicine and the best possible care that our patients should receive. Paperwork, patient care, continuing education — the cycle is unrelenting.

We’re also more uniquely poised to lift the weight of burnout than ever before. We’ve inherited antiquated systems, but we’re also digital natives. We’re stoic by nature, but we’re also empathic. Long training hours were a right of passage, but we know the importance of work-life balance. Now that we’re finally done training, we plod through a system overrun with paperwork and requirements that distract from efficient patient care. But we’re also empowered to change all of this. We are stewards of human health at a grand confluence of unprecedented technological awareness and unmet societal needs.

I want us to feel weightless again — to be efficient, informed and emotionally-engaged at work, and to be free to live our lives to the fullest outside of work. Orbit is a catalyst to help us realize this change. Using modern design and automation, we’re developing solutions to ease our common struggles with administrative burden, isolation, and information overload. Let’s work together and create a world where we’ll feel less familiar with burnout, more empowered to serve our patients at work, and more energized to engage our loved ones at home.

Our journey together starts with Orbit CME™, the most streamlined way to meet CME requirements in the world.
