1. Create a free account on the Human Services Learning Center page.
The account, course, and certificate are completely free. The course is legitimate, and was designed by The New York State Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) Bureau of Training and the Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance (OTDA) Bureau of Training and Management Analysis, in conjunction with the City University of New York (CUNY) School of Professional Studies, and the State University and College (SUC) Buffalo Center for Development of Human Services.
2. Check your email for the email validation link.
This is the email address where your certificate will be sent at the end of the course, so it’s important that you click on the email validation link.
3. Log into the account you just created at the Human Services Learning Center
Enter “reporter” into the course search box. There will be more than one course called “Mandated Reporter Web-Based On-Line”. Select the course with the most recent creation date (blue arrow).
4. Complete the course (max 2 hrs), and receive your certificate by email, print, and upload to Orbit
The course is self-explanatory. Towards the end, you’ll complete a very brief guided quiz with immediate feedback. The certificate is mailed to the email address you registered to the course. You can print out the certificate and include it in your state license. Be sure to upload the PDF of the certificate to Orbit so that you’ll have it for any future audits.
